Welcome to our app for the 2021 North Somerset Arts Week. This app is designed to be searchable to help you find what you're looking for. You can also browse to see all artists in our 2021 event. Using our map you can pinpoint the precise location of all venues.

Menu

Use the menu icon at the top left corner of the screen to access the map, the searchable list and other pages.

The map shows all venues - click on any marker to see a list of artists at that venue and click on any artist name for more information about the artist.

Areas within North Somerset have been arranged into three colour zones, indicated by the colour of the markers on the map.

Click the blue location arrow at the bottom of the map to see your current location.

Venue information

Venue information is shown on every artist's page. This includes opening times, parking, disabled accessibility, refreshments and payment methods (where information is available).

The list page shows all venues and the artists exhibiting at each. You can use the search tool to narrow down the list depending on your search term(s).

You can type anything you like in the search box. Perhaps you want to find 'printmaking', 'ceramics' or 'photography'. You might know the name of an artist such as 'Ruth Ander' or 'Gail Mason'. You can type the name of a specific venue such as 'Cleeve Village Hall' or the name of a town, village or street or even part or all of a postcode (eg: BS48).

If your search doesn't return any results try fewer words so that it's not too specific; for example to find screenprinting it would be best to search just the word 'screen' or for lino printing search using only the word 'lino'.

To clear the search and return to the full list touch the cancel button (a small white X in a pink circle - top right corner of screen) or delete the contents of the search box and press on the search icon.

Understanding your search results

If your search term is found in the venue information (eg: Claverham, BS48, Portbury Church) all artists at each matching venue will be shown.

If your search term is found in the artist information (eg: painting, ceramic, Richard Brooks) all matching artists will be shown. The list will show each matched artist under their venue heading but will not include other artists at that venue unless they also match your search terms.

App developers

This app has been produced by Bristol-based digital developers Cactus who publish art-based apps. These include the Banksy Bristol Trail app which shows you the street-artist's remaining works in his home town. It includes in-depth articles and photographs from the bestselling book Banksy's Bristol published by Bristol's own Tangent Books. The app includes a discount code for a whopping 25% off the price of the book! Also take a look at The Seven Saints of St Paul's heritage trail featuring seven large-scale murals of individuals who made significant contributions to the social and cultural richness of Bristol and the UK. The murals and the accompanying mobile app are educational tools to learn about the vibrant history of the St Paul's Carnival and the contributions made by these vanguards of the Windrush generation.
